The WHWCC-47-DTH process begins with a Micro Sediment Pre-Filter (model#FHBB-101) to remove any physical, undissolved particles out of the water (even though your water runs clear, you will be amazed by how much dirt & grime this filter captures). The only annual maintenance for this system is to replace the pre-sediment filter every 3-6 months, frequency of replacement depends on the amount of particulate in your well water. The Main Tank system utilizes our proprietary patented Reticulated KDF-55, Reticulated KDF-85 & high purity acid washed catalytic coconut shell carbon, all of which have been tested to NSF standard 42 and 61. Additionally an Upflow Template Assisted Crystallization Media Tank is added to this system to condition high levels of hardness (up to 25 grains).
The KDF-55 Minerals remove the dissolved inorganic contaminants (heavy metals, etc.), in addition to creating a bacteriostatic environment. In addition, KDF-55 balances pH, prevents corrosion & scale formation. KDF-55 is a unique copper-zinc media that reshapes hardness ions so they cannot adhere to each other or to the inside of plumbing. Instead the calcium and magnesium ions remain soluble in the water, thus reducing scale while adding life to the water.
KDF-85 is a unique formulation of copper-zinc media that provides additional benefits to this well water filtration system. In particular, this media is great for targeting and eliminating hydrogen sulfide & iron bacteria, which are common well water ailments.
The high purity acid washed coconut shell carbon remove the volatile organic compounds (chlorine, herbicides, pesticides, etc). This powerful wide spectrum filter will remove and/or reduce chlorine, heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, many types of pharmaceuticals, sediment, algae, molds, scale, bad taste, odors, and other undesirable contaminants that may effect the quality of your water supply.
CuZn’s Template Assisted Crystallization Media conditions the hardness in the same way our wide spectrum models condition the hardness to prevent scale. The main difference is that Template Assisted Crystallization Media is capable of conditioning much higher levels of hardness. Click here to view an independent study by Arizona State University that compares various alternatives to salt based softening and you will see that CuZn’s Template Assisted Crystallization is the only effective alternative to salt based water softening.
